Thrice - In Exile

This video is a great representation of the song, and is something that is very close to my heart. Having been surrounded by countless musicians living the life depicted I know a bit about the attempt to maintain normalcy around themselves while traveling miles away from their loved ones. It also aligns pretty closely with a story I look to explore further sooner or later.

Avett Brothers - Slight Figure of Speech - Directed by Jody Hill, Starring Andrew Daly

I’ve heard talk about Avett Brothers for a while now. I guess I’ve been missing out.

paulscheer:

Check out this new Avett Brothers video directed by Jody Hill (Observe and Report/Foot Fist Way) and starring Andrew Daly (Eastbound and Down).

Neutral Milk Hotel - “Two-Headed Boy (Live)”

One of a handful of bands I would freak out about and pay way too much money to see reunite.

Senor Coconut “Around The World” (merengue Daft Punk cover)

Sometimes you just scroll, and scroll looking for something to reblog… And then it’s there, like a diamond, in the rough. Please say there’s more…

Dead Pirates: Wood - by mcbess & simon, produced by the Mill

The amazingly talented Richard Minino (Horsebites) just posted this video on his blog. I know nothing about the band or artists, but it’s pretty cool.

Jason Segal & The Swell Season!?!

Comments (View) / 04:11 pm

Jason Segal took the stage during the Swell Season’s set last night in LA and proceeded to sing a personal, heartfelt song in which he gave out his number (315-329-6673) and requested that someone go home with him. If this is the direction of the new Swell Season, I really need to check out their new album. (via buzzfeed)

PS22: Styx - Come Sail Away

I can not hear this song and not think about one of the best TV shows ever. Thanks Paul and Judd.

sussybuckets:

PS 22 is back in session with one of my favorite jams, “Come Sail Away.” These kids kill it!  This year’s Elijah can be spotted at 0:31.

The Current Jams: Fall ‘09

  • No song has been a better anthem for NYC (and my recent trip) than Jay-Z - Empire State Of Mind. How many people are gonna move to New York looking for the streets that make you feel brand new? (Thanks to Ruben for the inspiration)
  • My friend Katia turned me on to Friendly Fires - Kiss Of Life while in NYC, and I’ve been playing it daily since then. I doubt it’ll go over too well at a party, but you can watch the video and imagine the Elaine dance moves killing.
  • Jay Retard - It Ain’t Gonna Save Me Just watch the video.
  • I’ve always wondered what a pool party with a gila monster was like. Luckily thanks to Fools Gold’s - Surprise Hotel I now know. I want.
  • Been on a bit of a mashup kick lately, and The Hood Internet - I’m a Flirt 7/4 Shoreline is one of the better one’s.
  • Girl Talk - Play Your Part (Pt. 1) still gets plenty of replays, especially when I need to get a bunch of stuff done, or make dillute my senses.
  • And then there’s Tommy Sparks - She’s Got Me Dancing, directed by Eric Wareheim, it should be a staple of all dance parties. And it’s dedicated to the she’s that get me dancing.

Fucking Hero- City of Caterpillar

Wow, it’s amazing to see the love behind City Of Caterpillar. I guess it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that bands can affect numerous lives of strangers. I fondly remember when my friends started City Of Caterpillar after the untimely demise of Monotonashhfuck. They had some insanely short period of time to make shirts and record a demo before taking Monotonashhfuck’s place on tour with Planes Mistaken For Stars. Adam spent a few late nights working with fonts on my computer (I promise, no “digital graphic design” occurred) to make their shirts. This is why I love Tumblr, to remind you of things that are awesome. I’ll have to dig up some photos & videos from that time.

Fucking Hero- City of Caterpillar

YOU MADE ME A FUCKING HERO

There really need to be more modern punk bands that mix heavy and chaotic with expansively pretty while completely omitting the schmaltz.  City of Caterpillar had that early Elvis Costello-ish ability to make something feel like it came directly from the heart while making the whole deal feel righteously political at the same time (and within the context of great songwriting to boot).

Philly Cheesy Chili Dip - The Remix. Found this gem made the rounds amongst composers and advertising types and came via my friend Cam at Black Iris. I present it for your aural pleasure.
