Documenting the last weekend that I’ll have to air out my smokey clothes.

Documenting the last weekend that I’ll have to air out my smokey clothes.
For too long Flickr has been a dumping ground and not lived up to its full potential. It still has a ways to go, but here’s hoping that the people tagging means that someone is going to be developing apps, and new & better ways to interface with your content there. Here’s one of two new sets I’m putting together of my favorite photos (of my own.) What are some of the better current apps for connecting to the Flickr API?

A week of randomness in Richmond with my iPhone. There’s something for everyone. Even John Cabrera.
Harry Shearer and This is Spinal Tap are appearing in Richmond on November 22nd for One Night Only, and I suggest buying your tickets now before you regret seeing 1/3 of the World’s Loudest Band for the rest of your life. (Having seen Guest and McKean at a Mighty Wind premiere this will complete the trifecta for me.) The event features a Q&A, screening of the film, and a meet and greet and is only $22. The money goes to WRIR, so you’ve really got no excuse not to support it. Check out this Richmond Magazine interview with Shearer.
Fucking Hero- City of Caterpillar
YOU MADE ME A FUCKING HERO
There really need to be more modern punk bands that mix heavy and chaotic with expansively pretty while completely omitting the schmaltz. City of Caterpillar had that early Elvis Costello-ish ability to make something feel like it came directly from the heart while making the whole deal feel righteously political at the same time (and within the context of great songwriting to boot).
I’ve been working with Chop Suey & Gallery 5 to bring the first of hopefully a few film screenings to Richmond. We will be screening Visioneers, starring Zach Galifianakis on Tuesday November 17th, 7pm @ Gallery 5 - $3. Check out the trailer, and know that you are in for an odd and dark trip. Much thanks to b-side entertainment for being at the forefront of supporting alternative film distribution methods. Help us bring more events to RVA by RSVPing to the event.

I am going to see Robert Crumb speak with Francoise Mouly tonight in Richmond. This will be awesome.

My close friends Tess and Dan got married this weekend. With the ceremony at the historic Byrd Theater and the reception at The Bankuet Place, both showed the perfect touch of class. Serious congratulations are in order as they even got me dancing, which is by no means a simple feat. It was a great event that I hope all remember fondly for a long time. See their fitting wedding processional below:
